Officials with McKim & Creed have signed a lease for more than 22,000 square feet on the eighth floor of Skyline Center, 929 N. Front St., in downtown Wilmington, according to an announcement Monday.

A news release by Wilmington-based Cape Fear Commercial (CFC) stated that the signing marks one of the largest office leases in the Cape Fear region this year.

McKim & Creed's current location at 243 N. Front St. is being marketed for sale or lease by CFC’s Keith Austin.

An engineering and surveying firm, McKim & Creed pursued the Skyline Center lease because of a need for more office space, said Addie Rising, a senior communications specialist, in a Business Journal story in June. The company, which was founded in Wilmington in 1978, had been in its downtown office for nearly 40 years.

Lindsey Hess, Julia Lackey and Paul Loukas of CFC represented Skyline Center's owner, the city of Wilmington, in the lease transaction. Mathew Cooke with Davis Moore Capital represented McKim & Creed.

Hess stated in the release, "This is the 15th lease signed at the building since Cape Fear Commercial began its marketing efforts in 2023.”
