A commercial construction company that spearheads major projects throughout the region announced a change in leadership Wednesday.

Wilmington-based McKinley Building Corp. promoted Chad Hodges, formerly chief operating officer, to the role of president, according to a news release.

The promotion is the culmination of a multi-year leadership development strategy, the release stated. The previous president, company founder McKinley “Ken” Dull, will continue his active role as founder and chairman of the board, according to the release.

“Chad has successfully overseen the company’s day-to-day operations over the past two years, guiding McKinley Building through sustained growth. His promotion concludes a six-year strategy to ensure a smooth and effective leadership change,” the release stated. “With Chad at the helm, MBC remains committed to delivering the high-quality service and results that clients have come to expect.”

A graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in construction management, Hodges joined McKinley in 2005 as a project manager.

“Throughout his career, Chad has successfully managed large-scale projects, including industrial, institutional, multifamily developments, senior living facilities, big-box retail, Class-A office, healthcare projects, and cleanroom facilities,” according to his bio on McKinley Building’s website.

As president, Hodges will oversee the company’s strategic direction, business development, financial management, project execution, client relationships and corporate culture, the release stated.

“Chad has proven his leadership over the last 19 years,” Dull stated in the release. “His vision and commitment to our core values make him the perfect fit to continue steering MBC’s success. I am confident our company is in excellent hands as we move forward.”

McKinley Building Corp. has been building projects in the Wilmington area and Southeastern North Carolina for 32 years, specializing in commercial, industrial, healthcare and multifamily construction.

Recent high-profile projects with economic development significance for the region include the expansion of Wilmington-based Quality Chemical Laboratories; the third building in the Wilmington Trade Center industrial park; the expansion into Wilmington of FedUp Foods, one of the largest private fermented beverage manufacturers in North America; and the expansion of India-based hose manufacturer Polyhose Inc. in Pender Commerce Park.

Many more projects are on the company's list.

“Ken has set a high standard of leadership, and I am committed to continuing that legacy while driving growth,” Hodges stated in the release. “Our clients can expect the same dedication to quality and service that has always been the hallmark of MBC as we look toward a future filled with opportunity and progress.”
