The Big Lots on Market Street in Wilmington is moving south to Ogden Plaza, making the shopping center 100% occupied for the first time in almost a decade.

The discount retailer signed a long-term lease in the fourth quarter last year for 35,000 square feet in the center, which was originally built around 1980, said Hill Rogers, broker in charge of Cameron Management.

Rogers, whose firm provides leasing and management services for the center at 6832 Market St., said Big Lots is getting ready to start its Ogden Plaza upfit in March and possibly be open by the summer.

The center, owned by Cameron family entity Ogden Plaza LLC, is also anchored by Planet Fitness and Ashley HomeStore. Four years ago, 80% of Ogden Plaza got a new facade and new storefronts.

In 2019, Planet Fitness signed a 10-year lease at the center for the space formerly occupied by a Harris Teeter grocery store.

The Wilmington Big Lots that is relocating is currently at 7316 Market St. in Ogden Village Center. The Port City has another location of the department store at 4310 Shipyard Blvd. in the Long Leaf Mall shopping center.

Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, Big Lots Inc. (NYSE: BIG) operates more than 1,400 stores in 47 states, according to the company's website.
