Intracoastal Realty To Open Office At The Pointe At Barclay

By Cece Nunn, posted Dec 23, 2016
A plan from The Pointe at Barclay developers Collett and Cameron Management shows the space, now unavailable, where an Intracoastal Realty Corp. office is planned.
Intracoastal Realty plans to open an office next year in a new building at The Pointe at Barclay, a movie theater-anchored center under construction in midtown Wilmington.

The company is one of the area's largest residential real estate agencies.

"We're excited about our new office at The Pointe at Barclay," said Jim Wallace, founder and CEO of Intracoastal Realty, on Friday. "We think that's going to be really cool. We're located right next to Starbucks and Zoes [Kitchen]."

The planned Starbucks and Zoes Kitchen in Building 9 at the 150,000-square-foot development, close to Independence Boulevard, are among numerous restaurant and service tenants that have been announced as coming attractions to The Pointe at Barclay, in addition to a Stone Theatres 14-screen movie theater crews are working on the South 17th Street and Independence Boulevard site.

The 1,500-square-foot Intracoastal Realty office is expected to open in mid-2017, Wallace said.

"We're at a great location with a lot of people living around there. It's just perfect for us," he said.

Wallace said the office will be a kind of "cafe-style" space with high-tech methods of presenting homes for sale to potential clients, including a lot of graphics and big-screen TVs.

"That's kind of the office of the future," he said.

He expects about a dozen agents to be based there. Intracoastal Realty has offices at Lumina Station, Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, Ocean Isle Beach, Leland and Surf City, and opened an office last year in downtown Wilmington

"We like to make sure we get the slam dunk location when we open an office," Wallace said. "We don't want to be in the marginal situation; we want to get the very best location."

New-home communities under construction that are close to The Pointe or nearby include The Forks at Barclay and RiverLights on River Road.

Other tenants announced and shown on marketing materials so far at The Pointe at Barclay, part of the 600-acre master-planned Barclay Community, include Duck Donuts, Chops Deli, Tavern on 17th, Pizzeria Forno, Lee Nails, Far From France, Zocalo Mexican restaurant, Which Which, Orange Theory Fitness, Sports Clips and a Nikki's restaurant.

The center is under development by Cameron Management in partnership with Charlotte-based development firm Collett.
