The owners of a pottery and painting studio opened about three years ago are moving the business from Hampstead to Wilmington.

Andrea Jacquot’s family is relocating Hot Mess Studios from a 600-square-foot location in Hampstead to 6005 Oleander Drive.

Moving to Wilmington means being closer to most of their customer base, Jacquot said. She and her business partners, her mother Karen Vose, and her husband, Jim, found the new space on Craigslist.

“It’s honestly everything that we need,” Jacquot said, adding that the space had been home to an art studio in addition to being the former location of Progressive Gardens.

“Sometimes you feel like it was just meant to be, so it’s perfect for us,” she said.

Hot Mess Studios offers a variety of opportunities to be creative, including classes, five pottery wheels, canvas painting, wine glass painting, glass fusion and slumping. Customers can choose pottery from a shelf to paint or make their own.

“Our motto is family and affordability because I have five kids of my own so we like to make the studio very family friendly,” she said.

The bulk of their business comes from children’s birthday parties, Jacquot said, and they also have a mobile arts studio, the Hot Mess Express, that can travel to party locations.

She said the family plans to open Hot Mess Studios at the new location by Oct. 1.
