Luxury Builder Proposes New, 3-story Office On Wrightsville Ave.

By Cece Nunn, posted Jul 17, 2015
On one of the last pieces of undeveloped commercial properties before drivers get to Wrightsville Beach, a custom luxury homebuilder wants to create a new home for his businesses.

Christopher Parker, a licensed professional engineer and owner of Parker Construction Group and a marine infrastructure construction firm, has proposed a three-story, 4,500-square-foot building for vacant land he owns at 7242 Wrightsville Ave.

“It’s just an incredible location,” Parker said Thursday. “We do work all over the state of North Carolina, but predominantly our work is at Wrightsville Beach at the waterfront, in Landfall and Figure Eight Island, so it’s a great location for our business.”

The .28-acre lot is within the city of Wilmington and zoned for commercial use, according to site plans submitted to the city’s project tracking website.

Parker said he hopes to move his businesses, currently located nearby at 2030 Eastwood Road, into the new office building by spring 2016, if city officials approve the proposal.

He said his companies are extremely busy, with a total of 40 employees between them, and the new space will allow those businesses to continue to grow.

The city's website says the office project could be considered by Wilmington's Technical Review Committee during its July 30 meeting.
