As part of an ongoing expansion, an environmental engineering firm recently bought a former credit union building near Oleander Drive.
Precision Environmental, which has a main branch in New York and an office at 161 Arlington Drive in Wilmington, purchased the parcels at 3804 and 3802 Cherry Avenue, including a 2,000-square-foot office building that used to house Hanover Federal Credit Union.
“Our business is growing. I have employees now, and we needed a bigger space,” Jonathan Guetta, southeast regional director for Precision Environmental, said Thursday.
Previously, Guetta was the local branch’s only full-time employee, working out of the company’s 300-square-foot office on Arlington Drive. He said he had one part-time employee and has now hired another full-time employee, with plans for more hiring in the future.
Along with an increase in demand for environmental engineering services, Precision Environmental’s record has helped lead to the company’s expansion, Guetta said.
“We provide a good product at a fair price. People know that we are honest,” he said. “It’s important when dealing with environmental hazards that you do the right thing the first time, and we have a reputation for doing it right.”
One of Precision Environmental’s clients is New Hanover County Schools, for which the firm oversees asbestos abatement. As a result, the company is involved in projects at five schools this summer, Guetta said.
According to a deed recorded June 23 in New Hanover County, Precision Environmental bought the parcels for about $215,000 from Piedmont Advantage Credit Union, which acquired Hanover Federal Credit Union last year.
Hansen Matthews, partner in Maus, Warwick, Matthews & Co., represented Piedmont Advantage Credit Union in the transaction, and broker, developer and architect J. Clark Hipp represented Precision Environmental.
