Williams Mullen To Leave Wilmington Office, Will Still Serve Clients Here

By Cece Nunn, posted Jun 18, 2015
Law firm Williams Mullen plans to vacate its downtown Wilmington office this summer, one of the managing partners said this week.

The firm is consolidating its Wilmington location with its Raleigh offices at the end of August, David Paulson, Carolinas managing partner, said Wednesday.

The Wilmington office is currently in the building anchored by Wells Fargo's regional headquarters at 300 N. Third St., in more than 7,000 square feet of class-A space on the fourth floor.

The firm, which has had a local office since 2001, will still serve Port City clients, Paulson said.

"Wilmington is a wonderful community, and we’re fortunate to have developed many great clients and friends in the Wilmington area," Paulson said. "We were serving clients in Wilmington long before we rented space down there, and we fully intend to continue to serve all of those clients and support the growth of the marketplace even though we will not be renting space."

Williams Mullen has 230 attorneys in offices across North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Washington, D.C., according to its website. The firm was founded in Richmond, Virginia, in 1909.

"We blend the law, government relations and economic development," its website says.

Vin Wells of Cape Fear Commercial is the listing broker for the Wells Fargo building.

The building was one of the featured properties earlier this month, during one of two downtown commercial property showcases that Wilmington Downtown Inc. organizes each year. The most recent showcase was sponsored by Cape Fear Commercial, Realtors Commercial Alliance, Coldwell Banker Commercial Suncoast Partners and Cameron Management.

The Wells Fargo office space, which leases for $25 per square foot, will be available in January 2016, Wells said.
