Clinical Research Firm Moving To Bigger Office In Mayfaire Area

By Cece Nunn, posted May 28, 2015
Clinical research firm Modoc Research Services moves Friday to bigger office space near the corner of Military Cutoff and Eastwood roads, a company official said Thursday.

"We were expanding and we needed additional offices to accommodate additional hires," said Sylina Phelan, vice president of operations for Modoc.

The company is also sharing the space, nearly 6,000 square feet on the second floor of The Atrium at 1410 Commonwealth Drive near Mayfaire, with a German clinical research organization called bioskin. The German company will use about a third of the space for its U.S. headquarters, Phelan said.

"We were able to get a bigger space that we could grow into by sharing it with them, and it will solidify our relationship and help us work better together," she said.

Modoc is a clinical research company, begun in 2005 at the home of president and CEO Julie Orr, for which clinical monitoring, clinical project management and medical writing are core services, Phelan said. The firm's five employees are moving to The Atrium from an office with about 1,000 square feet of space at 219 Racine Drive.

Broker F. Spruill Thompson, a senior vice president at Cape Fear Commercial, handled the office lease transaction for an undisclosed amount.
