Greyhound Sells Former Terminal For More Than $1M

By Cece Nunn, posted Mar 27, 2015
Greyhound Lines Inc. has sold its former downtown Wilmington bus terminal for more than $1 million, according to a deed filed this month with New Hanover County.

Turnstone Partners Commercial Real Estate announced on its website that the sale of the 1.2-acre lot, at 201 Harnett St., took place March 20. The buyer is listed on the deed as 41N29E LLC.

"The buyer is planning on holding the property and exploring various development opportunities," according to the Turnstone Partners announcement.

Bryan Greene, managing director of Turnstone Parnters, said Friday that no other information about the buyer's plans for the property are available right now.

Described as prime for redevelopment, the lot "was placed on the market at a time when development activity in the central business district of Wimington has dramatically increased with the development of a new office, hotel and mix-use projects," along with the city's extension of the Riverwalk and plans for a new waterfront park, the Turnstone Partners news release said.

The asking price was nearly $1.4 million, reduced from $2.15 million. The deed indicates that 41N29E LLC bought the property, which includes the 4,760-square-feet former terminal building, for $1.07 million.

In September 2011, Greyhound began operating its bus service in Wilmington out of Wave Transit's Forden Station, 505 Cando St., according to Wave Transit's 2011 annual report.
