With New Tenant, Hanover Center Reaches Full Occupancy

By Cece Nunn, posted Oct 22, 2014
When its latest tenant opens for business, Hanover Center will be fully occupied, the broker that handles leasing for the center said Tuesday.

My Eye Dr. is moving in to the 3,500-square-foot space formerly occupied by The Sterling House in the shopping center on Oleander Drive, said Jim Smith of The Oleander Company, which owns and manages Hanover Center.

Smith said My Eye Dr. signed a lease about two months ago, but he did not know when the office will open. Efforts this week to reach a My Eye Dr. official were unsuccessful.

My Eye Dr. is an eyecare group headquartered in Vienna, Virginia, that purchased Doctors Vision Center for an undisclosed amount in January, according to an article in the optometry industry magazine Vision Monday.

Signs at the Doctors Vision Center locations in Wilmington on Racine Drive and South 17th Street have been changed to reflect the My Eye Dr. purchase.

Hanover Center, often referred to as Wilmington’s first shopping center, opened in 1956. Last year, 02 Fitness opened its second Wilmington location in 26,000 square feet of space that was once a Sears warehouse. In 2012, Hobby Lobby brought home decor and arts and crafts supplies to 46,000 square feet in the center.
