Myrtle Grove Property Set Close Today

By J. Elias O'Neal, posted May 30, 2014
Three tracts of land totaling 2.7 acres in the Myrtle Grove area of New Hanover County is set to close sometime Friday with a new owner, according to a broker overseeing the transaction.

Bryan Greene, managing principal of Wilmington-based Turnstone Partners, said Thursday his firm plans to close on the property with a buyer.

The property, in the 5600 block of Carolina Beach Road, is wedged between the Myrtle Grove Post Office and Coastal Christian High School campus.

Greene said the future buyer plans to “land bank the site,” and has no immediate plans to develop the property.

The tracts are currently zoned B-2 business district, meaning a broad use of commercial users such as hotels, retail, restaurants and recreational businesses can establish operations on the site if approved by New Hanover County planning staff.

As new single-family and multi-family starts continue to grow, the Monkey Junction and Myrtle Grove areas in southern New Hanover County are beginning to see increased commercial activity.

Area brokers are seeing increased tenant interest in The Village at Myrtle Grove development, including the recent addition of Soccer Post, a national retail franchise that specializes in sale of soccer apparel, footwear and equipment.

Meanwhile, a wave of new eateries, such as the Hot Pink Cake Stand and Firebelly have also established roots in the area.

Cook Out also recently inked space to establish a second eatery in the former Taco Bell space at 5615 Carolina Beach Road.
