Local Computer Shop To Relocate, Expand

By J. Elias O'Neal, posted May 20, 2013

Increased business and inadequate space is promoting a Wilmington-based computer firm to relocate and expand its business.

Brian Satz, president and owner of Computer Warriors, said he signed a lease on Monday to take over 1,672 square feet of retail space formerly occupied by Manpower at 323 Eastwood Road.

The firm is currently housed at 4607 Franklin Ave., Suite 225. Computer Warriors also operates a second location in Sneads Ferry after purchasing X-Geeks, a computer repair and information technology firm, for an undisclosed amount in September 2011.

Nicholas Silivanch, vice president of retail leasing and acquisition for Wilmington-based Coldwell Banker Commercial Sun Coast Partners and principal leasing agent with Team Silivanch, represented Computer Warriors during the long-term lease transaction. Hank Miller III, senior vice president and broker with Wilmington-based Cape Fear Commercial, represented the landlord.

Satz said he hoped to move into his new location in the next 45-90 days.

Founded in 2006, Computer Warriors specializes in a number of services, including computer repair and the sale of new and refurbished desktops, laptops and monitors for both PC and Apple products.

But it’s the firm’s growth in information technology services to businesses prompting the firm to expand to seven full-time workers and two part-time workers.

"Our tremendous growth has been IT support and services for local business … such as computer network security and servers,” Satz said. “We’ve hired a new business specialist to help address that growth and keep our level of service to our clients.”

Satz, who graduated from University of North Carolina Wilmington in 2012 with a master’s of science degree in computer science and information systems, also plans to expand the showroom at his new location to display new and refurbished laptops, computers and monitors that customers can try out before purchasing.

He said moving to the Eastwood Road corridor would give his firm more room to grow and better exposure for new clients.

“We ran out of room,” Satz said. “We did so well at our existing location that we wanted to see how much further we can grow in this new space. We want our brand to ingrained in Wilmington, and this move will help in that branding.”
