Autumn Hall Unveils New Phase

By J. Elias O'Neal, posted Oct 25, 2012

Autumn Hall’s main senior residential anchor is getting closer to development.

Officials with Wilmington-based Norris & Tunstall unveiled its 222-unit retirement development to Wilmington planning officials Thursday.

Called Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall, plans call for the future 133,000-square-foot facility to house 122 multifamily units for independent living, and 100 beds for assisted living care, on 17.16 acres within the mixed-use development.

Bill Schoettelkotte, vice president of development services for Wilmington-based Cape Fear Commercial that’s representing development, said officials hope to launch construction on the project in a year.

Wilmington-based Liberty Senior Living will oversee the development and staff the facility.

In April, Liberty Senior Living received authorization from the Department of Insurance to begin accepting priority deposits for its planned continuing care retirement community (CCRC), Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall.

Once constructed, the facility will allow future residents to remain in the facilityand receive medical care and assistance from the confines of their residences as they age without having to leave Carolina Bay.
