Time Warner Cable officially opened its new Wilmington headquarters Wednesday.
The 45,000-square-foot facility at 2321 Scientific Park Drive will house the company’s local operations, Time Warner Cable Business Class, Time Warner Cable Media and News 14 Carolina departments. More than 300 employees will work in the location, according to a press release.
“This new facility, as well as the brand new Time Warner Cable retail store we will be opening in December at Mayfaire Town Center, are visible demonstrations of our commitment to growth in this area and how important this community is to Time Warner Cable,” Christine Whitaker, the company’s area vice president of operations for eastern North Carolina, said in a statement.
Raleigh-based Williams Realty & Building Company built the facility, and the total project cost was about $6.4 million, officials said. Time Warner Cable signed a long-term lease with Williams Realty.
John W. Farabow Jr. of Wilmington-based HR Associates designed the headquarters.
It was built to meet LEED Silver Certification with features to promote energy conservation and sustainability, officials said.
