GE Aviation Nets Orders Worth Billions At Paris Air Show

By Jenny Callison, posted Jun 18, 2015
GE Aviation and its joint venture companies received more than $19 billion in orders and commitments at this week’s Paris Air Show, according to a news release Thursday.

This news means that the GE Aviation plant in Castle Hayne will stay busy for the next few years, since the local plant makes rotating parts for many GE engines, including the company’s new high-efficiency engines.

The total reported Thursday by GE Aviation includes orders and commitments for almost 1,000 engines, at a cost of roughly $14.5 billion at list price, as well as several billion dollars in service agreements.

The show, which takes place at Paris’ Le Bourget Airport, is biennial. In 2013, GE Aviation and its 50/50 joint venture company CFM International garnered total engine and service orders of more than $26.5 billion.

This year’s customers come from all over the world. GE Aviation's news release reported orders from airline companies in North America, Australia, Europe and several Asian countries, including Myanmar, Indonesia, China, Qatar and Korea.
