Plumbing Store Opens Showroom

By Jenny Callison, posted Sep 30, 2014
With its plumbing supply store well established in Wilmington, Hubbard Pipe and Supply is opening a showroom to display its wares.

The new Kitchen, Bath and Lighting Showroom, located next to the store at 212 S. Kerr Ave., holds a grand opening on Thursday. Co-owner Nancy Teachey said the event’s featured guest will be HGTV’s Meg Caswell, host of Meg’s Great Rooms show and owner of a design firm and home décor store.

Teachey is the daughter of Hubbard Pipe and Supply founder Bonner Hubbard, who started the business in Fayetteville in 1972. The company expanded to Southern Pines and Sumter, South Carolina, and then to Wilmington in February 2013, Teachey said.

For the past 12 years, Teachey and her husband, Wilson, and her brother, David, have operated the business.

“Opening a showroom in Wilmington was always part of our plan, but we wanted to get the store up and running first,” she said. “We love Wilmington and think it’s a great market.”

Hubbard sells commercial and residential lighting and plumbing fixtures to plumbers, contractors, landscapers and homeowners, Teachey said. Michael Bailey is the general manager of the Wilmington store and showroom; Kate Scarborough and Tiffany Powles are the store’s consultants.
