Glasgow Hicks Announces Changes

By Keith Larsen, posted Oct 1, 2013

An insurance agency well known among Wilmington residents has chosen a new name and a new office. Glasgow Hicks Insurance Agency, which has been in Wilmington since 1924, will be called Aquesta Insurance Services as of Oct. 17.

The name change takes effect following the insurance agency’s relocation from 3807 Peachtree Ave. to a 1,500-square-foot office at Howe’s Creek Office Landing, at 700 Military Cutoff Rd. The new space and name will not result in any changes in employees or product services, according to Lauren Furcht, director of marketing at Aquesta Bank.

The move, she said, was made to create a “more visible location. [It’s] more convenient for the customers to find us easily.”

Aquesta Insurance Services, which is a subsidy of Cornelius, N.C.- based Aquesta Bank, acquired Glasgow Hicks in 2009; however, it decided not to make the name change immediately because the Glasgow Hicks name had been so well established in the community for so long, according to Furcht.

Aquesta Insurance agency has offices in four North Carolina communities: Cornelius, Concord, Denver and Wilmington, and is an independent insurance agency that specializes in personal line insurance products such as auto, home, boat, life and health.

In celebration of the name change and office relocation the company will hold a grand opening ceremony on Oct. 17. The event will offer food, drinks, live music and a drawing to  win an IPAD mini.

“We’re continuing to offer great service to the Wilmington community. The only thing that will change is a new name,” said Furcht.
