Mercer Stanfield has been elected president and chief operating officer of Brame Specialty Company Inc., a distribution company with a presence in Wilmington.

Stanfield joined Brame as a sales representative in 1996, initially out of the Wilmington office before moving later to the Charlotte office, according to a press release.

He was promoted to director of purchasing in 2003 and, most recently, he served as vice president of sales for the company.

In addition to his new role as president, Stanfield serves on the company’s board of directors.

Stanfield graduated Hampden-Sydney College in 1994 with an economics degree. Later, he worked at Georgia Pacific Corporation before joining Brame Specialty Company.
