University of North Carolina Wilmington held a reception Oct. 16 to honor the three recipients of the Trask Land Company Champions of Freedom Scholarship winners.
The three recipients, Sgt. Marianne Grimm, Staff Sgt. Harold Ryan Hoover and Sgt. Matthew Mclean, were honored in a ceremony attended by UNCW chancellor Gary Miller, Raiford Trask III, family and guests.
The Trask Land Company Champions of Freedom Scholarship was established in May. Its goal is to benefit active-duty Marines and their family members.
The Trask Land Company established the scholarship at UNCW because the university offers several educational programs tailored for members of the military and their families, according to a news release.
