Law firm hires associate

The law firm of Murchison, Taylor & Gibson hired Amanda K. Hannon as an associate. Hannon graduated cum laude from Campbell University’s law school. She concentrates on the areas of wills, trusts, estate planning, estate administration and business law.

Roofing company hires representative

Wilmington-based roofing and sheet metal company Flores and Foley hired David Kauffman as a sales representative. Kauffman, former co-owner of United Concrete pumping and vice president of Godwin Concrete Co., has an extensive background in the construction industry and graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a degree in business administration.

Lower Cape Fear Hospice worker receives award

Jason Clamme, community outreach director for the Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter, received the 2013 Spirit of Hospice Award from The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care. Before his work as community outreach director, Clamme volunteered for the nonprofit hospice for two years as a volunteer coordinator. He is also the head of the organization’s speakers bureau and manages the volunteer department to ensure standards of volunteer hours and participation meet regulatory requirements.

Historic Wilmington Foundation director appointed to state board

The N.C. National Register Advisory Committee appointed George Edwards, executive director of the Historic Wilmington Foundation, to the board. Edwards, who has been with the foundation nearly eight years, will serve a two-year term on the state committee. The committee focuses on the state’s historic preservation program. Nominations for the National Register of Historic Places are submitted through state historic preservation offices. 

Cornerstone hires associate

Cornerstone Advisory Partners hired Ellen Long as a business associate. Long is responsible for marketing, business development and customer support. Her work experience includes business coaching and professional sales. Long has a B.S. in business administration from North Greenville University and is currently working on her M.A. in management and leadership from Liberty University.

Good Shepherd adds development director

Good Shepherd hired Jane Birnbach as the group’s senior development director. Birnbach holds a national CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) certification and has more than 20 years of experience in fundraising, including work in donor relations, major gifts and planned giving. Good Shepherd Center, the largest provider of homelessness services in the region, helps the area’s hungry and homeless population. 

Corbett earns UNCW scholar award

J. Richard Corbett was recognized as an Albert Schweitzer Honors Scholar at an event on the University of North Carolina Wilmington’s campus. The UNCW Honors Scholars College and Randall
