Week Events: Sustainability, Nonprofit Start Ups And More

Wednesday:
The Wilmington Planning Commission meets at 6 p.m. in the city council chambers, 102 N. 3rd St.

The Wilmington Chamber of Commerce holds a press conference to unveil its sustainability program in which local businesses can participate.

Thursday:
Cape Fear Community college’s Small Business Center holds a free seminar about “How to Start a Non-Profit Organization” 6-9 p.m. in the school’s Health Science/Learning Resources Building, Room L 107, 415 N. 2nd St.
       
The GE Retirees Association meets at noon, at the New Hanover County Senior Center, 2222 South College Road. Jim Parnell, retired professor of ornithology at University of North Carolina Wilmington is slated to speak. RSVP by calling 799-5284.
 
Betsy Smith, CEO and owner of E.L. Smith Consulting, speaks about “Power Plays for Women: How to go from the mailroom to the boardroom” at the Women in Business Speaker Series 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. The lunch event at the Wilmington Convention Center is $40.
