Following the May 31 departure of Jonathan Rowe, the director of University of North Carolina at Wilmington’s Entrepreneurship Center, officials at the university are preparing to launch a national search for his replacement.
According to sources at the university, officials are working to develop a job description and salary range so that the position can be posted and advertised – probably later in July.
Rowe left his position to become marketing director for nCino, a banking software company recently spun off by Wilmington-based Live Oak Bank.
Fran Scarlett, director of the N.C. Business and Technology Development Center office at UNCW, is serving as interim director.
The center, which was created within the Cameron School of Business in January 2010, was reorganized as a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC) this past spring and placed under the aegis of the UNCW Research Foundation. This change was designed to help the Entrepreneurship Center to forge additional partnerships with the private sector that will fuel entrepreneurial activity in the region.
