As it seeks to ease the traffic load in congested areas, the City of Wilmington is asking residents for input on proposed collector streets. It is holding a workshop Monday, February 6, to discuss a current street plan and also invites online feedback through a survey.
Today’s workshop takes place from 5-7 p.m. in the HR Training Room at the New Hanover County Government Center, 230 Government Center Drive. This is the second public meeting on the street plan.
A “collector street” is one that connects local streets with major roads to reduce congestion. The city is working with the Wilmington Metropolitan Planning Organization on a long-range plan that may affect many residential and commercial areas of Wilmington in the future. In the plan, numerous streets have been identified as potential collector streets.
