Regional and national speakers will meet in Wilmington next month to exchange ideas and stories in dealing with traumatic events.
The discussion is part of the 23rd Annual Trauma and Emergency Symposium scheduled February 10-11 at the Wilmington Convention Center, 515 Nutt St., according to a news release.
The event is sponsored by New Hanover Regional Medical Center and South East Area Health Education Center.
The two-day symposium, titled “Care Through the Continuum,” features 40 large-scale exhibitors representing hospitals, medical equipment distributors, suppliers and transport providers.
Guest speakers include Dr. Peter Rhee, who witnessed the emergency aftermath of U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford’s shooting; Jeff Hamilton on the Joplin, Mo., tornado aftermath; and Dr. Lawrence Dauer on the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power facility disaster following the March 2011 Japan earthquake and tsunami, the news release said.
