By Alison Lee Satake, posted Dec 9, 2011

At the Wilmington Regional Association of Realtors luncheon on December 7, Intracoastal Realty agent Deb Hays was awarded the Paul Sullins’ Community Service Award. Unable to attend, Chris Livengood accepted it on her behalf.

Since the inception of the award three years ago, two other agents from Intracoastal Realty have received it. Jimmy Hopkins won the award in 2010 and Melisa Gallison won it in 2009.

Hays received statewide recognition for her community service work from the North Carolina Association of Realtors in September. She has served as chair of the Wilmington Housing Authority Commissioners for the past two years and has been a commissioner for over five years.

She is a graduate of the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Wilmington, a former member of the chamber’s board of advisors and the annual membership campaign. She currently serves on the Azalea Festival board and chairs two committees. Additionally, she contributes to the American Heart Walk, the Cape Fear Literacy Council and the Phoenix Foundation. She is active at First Baptist Church with whom she recently went on a mission trip to Guatemala.

At the awards luncheon, Crystal Fray with State Farm Insurance was awarded as Allied Member of the Year, David Eggleston Jr. with Intracoastal Realty received the Cathy Clark Award, Tom Spencer with Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Realty received the Life Member Award.

The association's Realtor of the Year, Salesperson of the Year and Hall of Fame Awards will be given at its 2012 installation banquet on Jan. 20.
