Yanni Papanikolaou, who operates The Greeks Authentic Mediterranean Deli with his parents and sister, announced that Lowes Foods will now be carrying their hummus and tzatziki.

The hummus and tzatziki are made fresh each week at the restaurant and packaged with The Greeks logo for Lowes. The items currently are priced at $6.99 for an eight-ounce package. Both contain all- natural ingredients and only natural preservatives.

“We’re pleased to be carrying these products made in Wilmington,” said Lowes spokeswoman Kelly Dillon Davis. “We support local products because we are one ourselves.”

The family-owned Winston-Salem based company has been in operation since 1954 and has recently launched a campaign to rebrand itself as a homegrown grocery store with strong ties to local communities throughout North Carolina.

Papanikolaou says that his restaurant is also in the process of getting approval for its Greek dressing and falafel mix as well as a line of spices. He hopes that these products will be available at Lowes in the coming months and in additional grocery chains by the beginning of 2015.
