Exploring the Financial Costs of Senior Living Options

Sponsored Content provided by Lisa Polanski - Marketing Director, Plantation Village Retirement Community

This Insights column was contributed by Brian Root, Sales Counselor at Plantation Village

There are a variety of choices to make when it comes to senior living. Making the decision is not an easy task, as each option comes with a distinct set of advantages, benefits, and financial implications.

Figuring out the level of care that is right for you, comparing different Life Plan Communities, analyzing entrance fees, and reviewing terms and conditions can suddenly feel like a full-time job.

That is why we are hosting another free seminar with Brad Breeding, one of the industry’s leading experts on Continuing Care Retirement Communities, at Plantation Village on Thursday, Sept. 13, at 10 a.m. Breeding is an independent, third-party consultant, a Certified Financial Planner, and the author of “What’s the Deal with Retirement Communities?”

Mr. Breeding draws from more than 14 years of experience with estate distribution and retirement planning to provide seniors with the resources and guidance they need to make an informed decision.

To ensure that seniors make the best possible decision to fit their needs, wants, and goals, he will be covering a variety of topics, including:

  • Cost comparisons between going to a Life Plan Community and remaining in your home
  • The key differences between rental communities and entrance fees
  • The health and financial benefits of living in a social setting
  • The advantages of Life Plan Communities
The seminar will be a purely educational discussion. It will include useful guidance pertaining to refund options, determining which form of Life Plan Community is the most closely aligned with your financial plan, and how to analyze the various types of contracts.

Breeding started his business in response to a need among older adults and their families for better information and guidance when researching retirement communities. He gained experience and realized there was a strong need for this type of service from helping people create a plan for the future and understand their options.

Breeding has been quoted extensively in major media outlets, such as Kiplinger’s Magazine, Wall Street Journal’s MarketWatch, USA Today and The New York Times.

Considering his background in financial planning, it is easy to see why his website includes an informative financial calculator. There is also a range of interactive materials and videos to help people distinguish between the types of Life Plan Communities, analyze long-term care and payment options, understand the differences between private pay versus Medicare certified, and more.

Breeding is hoping that seminar attendees will walk away with a better understanding of the options that would work better for them, based on their unique set of circumstances and goals. All of us at Plantation Village are proud that our status as a non-profit allows us the freedom and requisite capital to provide this type of service for the community.

If you missed out on this visit from Brad, there is no need to worry, as we often hold informative seminars and fun events for our residents and those who are interested in our community.
