ILM Sees Increases in Nonstop Flights, Expands Route Map

ILM is growing, thanks to our airline partners.  You can now fly nonstop to 12 destinations and easily connect to over 360 more.(Click here to view ILM’s entire route map and see where each airline flies).

American Airlines, ILM’s largest air carrier offers nonstops to Charlotte, LaGuardia, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Dallas Fort-Worth, as well as seasonal service to Boston and Chicago O’Hare. We attribute a lot of ILM’s strong recovery, and return to pre-covid numbers, to American’s investment in the ILM market.  In addition to strong flight frequency American has upguaged many of the aircraft in our market, meaning they have increased the size of the aircraft flying to/from ILM.  This upguages is great news for our community as it offers more seats on each flight. American continues to grow their air service in our market, offering lots of great options for business and leisure travelers.

Delta also recently increased the size of aircraft used on their nonstop to Atlanta. With frequent daily nonstops, you have many options to fly nonstop to Atlanta and then connect beyond.  During a recent conversation, we were reminded, “Through Atlanta you can get nearly anywhere in the world.” Additionally, Delta increased their seasonal service to LaGuardia this summer, offering the nonstop flights twice daily. The New York area is ILM’s number 1 market, with the most demand, and we appreciated these flights from Delta.

United's Newark service has been well received by the community.  It’s a great nonstop that offers access to the New York area as well as connects business travelers, such as those in the pharmaceutical industry, to their business partners.  It’s also a hub, connecting travelers for many domestic and international flights.

ILM’s newest airline, Avelo launched service June 30th.  Avelo flies nonstop between ILM and New Haven, CT, Orlando-FL, and Baltimore-Washington, DC.  This new air carrier will bring additional seats to the market and aid in ILM’s growth.  ILM is partnering with our local CVB to help spread the word about this new airline carrier and service.  Avelo’s investment in ILM means area residents now have more nonstop choices and flights that are offered at everyday low fares. These new routes also mean ILM will welcome visitors from these other cities, contributing to visitor spend, room occupancy taxes, and our overall economy.

We’re excited about the growth happening at Wilmington International Airport.  With new low fares, 4 airline partners, 12 nonstop destinations, and connections to hundreds more, our community is being well served through the expanded route map and flight options. The ILM team is thankful to our airline partners that continue to see the potential in the ILM market.  We encourage all travelers to check ILM first when booking your flight.
