Simplicity is the Ultimate Sophistication

Sponsored Content provided by Chris Capone - CPA; Owner and Fractional CFO, Capone & Associates

We see it all the time, and it happens to everyone. It’s just so easy to get bogged down by details, complexities, what-ifs and mountains of data… and then we lose sight of the forest, focusing only on the trees.

In my early career at ABB, I had the privilege of working alongside some of the most experienced six sigma and lean management executives, legit ‘sensais’.  At the core of everything they preached and taught was how to keep it simple.  Simplicity brings transparency, which is the foundation for continuous improvement.  This is the philosophy I have taken to build our business, and the ideals we take to every single client engagement.

So how do I de-complexify my business? Where do I start?

  1. Define your goal.
  2. Identify the top 3 problems that are keeping you from reaching the goal ( I love to call them “constraints” because its a nerdy opex term and I am obsessed with Theory of Constraints - check out the Novel “The Goal” by Eli Goldratt)
  3. Get a white board and map out the current state of your business flow and processes.  At a high level, start to finish, how does information flow through the organization.  Ask yourself and your team, why are we doing this? Does it provide value to our customers and help us get closer to the goal?
  4. Adjust, re-design and/or create systems and processes that eliminate unnecessary BS
  5. Execute and get 1% better every day.
Simplicity brings transparency, speed, and clarity, while liberating you from the shackles of analysis paralysis. Declutter your business approach, and watch how simplicity transforms the way you make informed decisions, and propels your business to new heights.

My team and I are a lot more than accountants. We take a big picture approach to all of our engagements, helping you simplify your business model to achieve your goals.  Don’t miss out on growing your business and achieving your goals by hiring the wrong expert.  Give us a call.
