PlayerSpace.Com
As chief technology officer of Wilmington-based Playerspace.com, a league, tournament and sporting event management system for adult and youth sports organizations nationwide, Jeffrey Shain is responsible for all of the business’s technical aspects such as software development and systems administration.
Consumes news digitally through sites such as CNN, The Huffington Post and MSNBC.
As a ColdFusion developer, Shain checks out the sites for Ben Nadel (bennadel.com), Adam Cameron (blog.adamcameron.me) and Raymond Camden (raymondcamden.com). For entertainment news, he frequents Kotaku.com, BirthMoviesDeath.com and Aintitcool.com.
For podcasts, he gravites to comedy podcasts, such as Bill Burr’s Monday Morning Podcast, WTF with Marc Maron, The Nerdist, The Joe Rogan Experience and My Wife Hates Me with Rich Vos and Bonnie McFarlane.
“I love good drama, so you’ll see me every Sunday glued to the television to watch Game of Thrones, Veep, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Girls, Togetherness, et al.,” says Shain, an ardent fan of HBO.
Movie recommendation is Anomalisa, a stop-action animated feature written by Charlie Kaufman.
For apps, he’s been using Uber more lately – “It’s a great app, albeit pricy at times” – but is most impressed with Mint. “It connects to all the major financial institutions and pulls your transactions into one, easy-to-use dashboard. It has been an invaluable tool in managing my money.”
