By Staff Reports, posted Dec 20, 2013
Jordan Watson
As head of National Speed, a Wilmington-based performance shop for cars, Jordan Watson relies on technology for nearly every aspect of his business. “The way I see it, National Speed is more than a speed shop,” he said. “We are becoming a technology company that happens to know a lot about building high-performance cars and delighting customers.”

Media sources he checks out are a mix of news, business and motor magazines, including the  Greater Wilmington Business Journal, Fast Company, Modified Magazine, Wall Street Journal, DSPORT, Harvard Business Review and GM High-Tech Performance.

Websites on regular rotation include Seth Godin’s blog on marketing (sethgodin.typepad.com),question-and-answer site Quora (quora.com) and The Chronicles (stickydiljoe.com).

Go-to podcasts are The Smoking Tire and Hooniverse “because each have cool and industry/community relevant topics, interesting guests and they all center around car culture.”

A few of his favorite books are Startup CEO by Matt Blumberg, The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell and The Lean Startup by Eric Ries.

Movie picks include As Good as It Gets, Two-Lane Blacktop, Eraserhead, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Gone in Sixty Seconds and Back to the Future.
