Tammy Proctor

Tourism Director / PIO, Pender County

As Tammy Proctor puts it, “I have the most fun job in Pender County. I get to promote Pender County’s natural resources, rich history and wonderful shops and restaurants.” She uses social media to market the county as well as to distribute timely information and alerts during an emergency.

Reads Our State magazine for pleasure.“For news/work I read Time magazine – yes, there’s a news magazine still in publication,” The New York Times and The Washington Post, StarNews and Greater Wilmington Business Journal.

TV show favs include Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.

Favorite movies are “anything Star Wars.”

Book recommendation is American Radical by Tamer Elnoury written with local writer Kevin Maurer.

Uses Facebook Live video streaming a lot in her office “because a picture is worth a thousand words, but a video takes you there and lets you live the experience!”

Digital device recommendation is the iPad Pro for taking notes and listening to playlists. “But like most people, I can’t live without a smartphone.”
