Enchanted Airlie Goes International

By Susan Hance, posted Dec 19, 2014
If tickets are available, there’s still time to catch 750,000 sparkling lights on the half-mile, self-guided walking trail of holiday decorations in 67-acre Airlie Gardens.

Seasonal sounds and warm holiday refreshments add to the enchantment, according to a press release. New this year are winter princesses, Elsa and Anna, who greet guests and pose for photos.
Enchanted Airlie was created by the Airlie Gardens Foundation 10 years ago and quickly gained national and international acclaim.

“We have visitors from all 50 states and 47 different countries,” Janine Powell, Airlie Gardens development director, said in the release. “During Enchanted Airlie we’ll see around 30,000 people.”

Voted a Top 20 Event in 2012 by the Southeast Tourism Society, Enchanted Airlie was dubbed in November by Out and About editor for Raleigh’s WRAL-TV, Kathy Hanrahan, as one of five picks in North Carolina for “places you should definitely try to visit before the end of the year.”

There are two run-times through Dec. 22: 5-7 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance and not at the gate.
