Mayfaire Town Center will soon be home to Homewood Suites, a Hilton Hotels brand with more than 240 hotels in the United States and Canada.
The extended-stay hotel is designed to accommodate the needs of travelers planning longer stays, including business and corporate travelers.
It’s scheduled to open in the late spring of 2010. The Homewood Suites site is adjacent to the Hilton Garden Inn in an area slated for hotels under Mayfaire’s mixed-use plan, said Sue Rice, Mayfaire spokeswoman. The hotel will be located at 6732 Swan Mill Road.
The project’s real estate developer is Generation Companies LLC, which is based in Research Triangle Park in the Raleigh area.
According to a Generation news release, construction for the upscale 118-room hotel began in July.
“We are pleased to break ground on such a significant development project in the midst of a still-dysfunctional credit market,” said company president H. Mark Daley. “Receiving the support we need from our investors and lenders in this difficult economic environment is a vote of confidence for Generation that makes us very grateful.”
