Novant Relocates Surgical Office, Opens Sleep Center

By Johanna Cano, posted Feb 1, 2019
Novant Health Surgical Associates at 1456 Howe St. in Southport has relocated to the Dosher Memorial Hospital campus at 819 N. Atlantic Ave. in Southport.

Novant Health and Dosher Memorial Hospital previously announced that they were forming a partnership so general surgeons from Novant Health could perform surgeries at both Dosher Memorial and Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center.

“We are excited to partner with Dosher to help ensure patients are able to stay close to home for the high-quality surgical care they need,” Shelbourn Stevens, president at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center, said in a news release. “Our surgeons opened an office in Southport several years ago and are looking forward to extending care to the community through this partnership with Dosher.”

Additionally, Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center opened a sleep center in January offering sleep disorder diagnostics.

The two-bed sleep center is located at Brunswick Medical Center, according to a release. At the center, technicians can test for sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy and restless limb disorder.

“People should consider speaking with their provider about their quality of sleep,” Mike Crabb, systems manager of sleep services for Novant Health and licensed respiratory care practitioner, said in the release. “If you’re having trouble sleeping, don’t assume you should just take a sleep aid to fall asleep. There could be underlying disorders that could put you in danger. You really need to bring up your sleep issues with your provider.”
