She has lived in Wilmington since 1985.

RAND PENNINGTON
TITLE: Family/Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
ORGANIZATION: NHRMC Physician Group–New Hanover Medical Group
WHAT THE NOMINATOR SAID: “Rand is exceptional, truly the ‘go-to guy’ in both inpatient and outpatient settings. He bends over backward to ensure positive outcomes for his and his colleagues’ patients, and he is an extraordinary asset to our community.

Other colleagues agree that Rand is an excellent clinician, saying he is extremely thorough and doesn’t miss anything in his patient assessments. His interactions with other providers, coworkers and patients are professional and respectful.

He is one of the most well-respected providers in the organization; everybody knows and loves him. He leads by example, and it’s obvious that he is wholeheartedly dedicated to providing the best care. Rand’s desire to provide the best care possible leads him to continuously look for ways to improve processes that lead to improved patient outcomes.

Because diabetes is a growing problem within New Hanover Medical Group’s patient population, Rand is currently working on an initiative to accomplish better outcomes in diabetes patients.”

TRACY MOORE
TITLE: Nurse Practitioner
ORGANIZATION: Lower Cape Fear Hospice
WHAT THE NOMINATOR SAID: “Tracy has been a valued team member of LCFH for over 8.5 years, caring for some of our most vulnerable community members … hospice and palliative care patients residing in skilled nursing facilities. Her skill level and expertise in medicine is matched only by her compassion and respect for everyone she encounters.

You won’t find a practitioner that’s more dedicated or that’s a harder worker than Tracy Moore. She is passionate about the mission of our agency, and it shows in the strength of her work ethic and her dedication to our patients and families. She takes great pride in sharing what palliative care can do for patients and families, which makes her an excellent ambassador in the community as well as in her role at facilities.

She is also an excellent teammate and a wonderful role model for best practices in ‘collaborative care’ involving facility teams, the hospice and palliative care teams, as well as other disciplines. She provides excellent customer service and recognizes that our customers include more than patients and families, but those physicians and facilities that trust us and share in the care of their patients.”
