New Hanover Regional Medical Center Urgent Care at 1135 Military Cutoff Road has relocated to 510 Carolina Bay Drive in Autumn Hall to consolidate services.

The new location opened Monday under the NHRMC ExpressCare name and will have a shared suite with NHRMC Physician Group at the New Hanover Medical Group site, according to a news release Tuesday.

“The relocation allows urgent care type services to be embedded with one of our primary care practice locations," said NHRMC spokesman Julian March in an email. “Additionally, it provides an opportunity for patients that haven’t established with a primary care provider in our community to meet some of our providers.”

The relocation would also result in a reduced co-pay for patients becuse ExpressCare is considered an expanded primary care service as opposed to urgent care.

The New Hanover Medical Group location at Autumn Hall opened in August 2017.

“Planning for the relocation and rebranding of NHRMC ExpressCare started in March 2018,” he said.

The space on Military Cutoff Road where the former urgent care was located was a leased space, March said. NHRMC Health and Diagnostics will remain at that location.

Another operational consolidation effort by NHRMC announced this week is its new Surgery Navigation Center.

The center opened Monday and seeks to manage care to minimize or prevent complications, reduce recovery time and lead to better patient experience, according to a news release Tuesday.

The center, located in the Medical Mall at 2243 S.17th St., will assist more than 45,000 patients who have surgery at MHRMC each year.

At the Surgery Navigation Center, patients will be evaluated through a screening process, educated on their surgical procedure and prepared on what to expect throughout the surgery process.

According to the release, the center will benefit patients by providing them with a single point of contact and consolidated care.
