Wilmington Health Adds Oncology/Hematology

Jim McGrath recently joined Wilmington Health as the head of oncology/ hematology for the practice.

As an oncologist and hematologist, McGrath diagnoses and treats patients with cancers and blood disorders. He joins Wilmington Health Oncology/Hematology after more than a decade of practice at Gaston Hematology and Oncology in Gastonia and Belmont.

“I’m excited to bring Oncology/ Hematology to Wilmington Health. A cancer diagnosis can be challenging for both patients and their families, and I look forward to providing compassionate, individualized treatment plans to each patient I see,” McGrath said in a news release.

McGrath received his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Emory University, where he also performed a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology.

McGrath is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in oncology and internal medicine; he is board eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine in hematology.
