Patients and visitors at Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport can now get a ride to and from the hospital parking lot across Fodale Avenue in a new electric car.

The car is provided by the Dosher Volunteers group.

The four-seat vehicle is equipped with seat belts, heater, headlights and tail lights, windshield wiper, and a flashing safety light atop the 2017 Polaris model GEM e4.

Volunteers operate the shuttle service 7 a.m.-1 p.m. weekdays.

The Dosher Volunteers are an independent group of nearly 200 women and men supporting the hospital through a variety of services since 1972.
