Seven Novant Health nurses were recently named to the prestigious Great 100 list of nurses in North Carolina.

One of the seven, Stephanie Herron, works at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center.

The nurses were nominated by their peers “on the basis of their outstanding professionalism, their demonstration of excellence and their commitment to making a difference in their communities through nursing,” a Novant Health news release stated.

The seven nurses named to the list come from three different Novant Health facilities, including Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center.

The Great 100 Inc., was founded in 1988 and based in Greensboro, is a grassroots peer recognition organization that seeks to honor the nursing profession.

Every year, the program honors 100 registered nurses across North Carolina who demonstrate excellence in practice and commitment to their profession.
Great 100 also raises funds to provide scholarships for individuals who want to pursue nursing as a career.

“Each of these nurses presents a positive, professional image of nursing and exemplifies what it means to provide exceptional patient care,” a news release stated.

Herron, who also was a finalist in the Business Journal’s Health Care Heroes awards in 2016, and the six other nurses from other Novant Health facilities were recently honored during the Great 100 gala at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro.
