Dosher Wellness Center Plans September Opening

By Ken Little, posted Sep 9, 2016

Delays in construction pushed back the original August grand opening date of the Dosher Wellness Center to September, hospital spokesman James Goss said.

The two-story, 26,000-square-foot medical complex is located near the west entrance to St. James Plantation in Brunswick County.

A public open house took place Sept. 9 at the facility, 3009 Medical Plaza Lane.

The new center will house several clinical services on the first floor.

They include board-certified family medicine physicians Kristos Vaughan and Leigh Vaughan, who relocated from Dosher Medical-Long Beach Road and began seeing patients Sept. 6; satellite physical therapy and occupational therapy services; and X-ray services. Cardiac rehabilitation services, which relocated from Dosher Memorial Hospital and will nearly double in size, opened in the new facility Aug. 31.

An indoor walking track for cardiac rehab and physical therapy patients, as prescribed by their physicians, is part of the complex.

The medical complex will also include a cardiology physician practice and an office for rotating physicians in other specialties.

The second floor of the complex will be used for future expansion, according to a news release.

Construction of the Dosher Wellness Center was financed through a partnership of St. James and Summit Healthcare Group, a private developer, at a cost of $6 million. Dosher is leasing the space from the partnership and invested another $1.9 million to equip the facility for the specific health and wellness services offered, the release stated.
