Dosher Memorial Hospital’s patient care unit marked its first year of operation with a recent open house.
Over the past 12 months, the staff has treated 1,600 patients, hospital officials said.
The patient care unit at the Southport hospital opened in June 2015.
Those treated include injured or sick patients admitted through the emergency department, general surgery and orthopedic surgery patients admitted following scheduled procedures, along with patients with a wide range of illnesses admitted by their private physicians.
The $12.5 million-project to build and equip the unit included a $9.5 million low-interest loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
