New Hanover Regional Medical Center announced that Schorr Davis, director of business development at NHRMC, assumed interim leadership of the NHRMC Foundation, starting last month.

She fills this role following the departure of Adam Cook, vice president of development and executive director of the foundation. Cook left NHRMC for an opportunity in the Charlotte area, officials said.

Davis became director of business development at NHRMC in 2010. She led the effort for the hospital to merge with SEAHEC and has served as lead analyst for expanding services in new markets.

“I’m honored that the senior leadership at New Hanover Regional Medical Center and the NHRMC Foundation are willing to give me this opportunity, and I’m thrilled to accept it,” Davis said in a news release.

Davis received a bachelor’s degree in human and organizational development from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennesse. Davis also earned a master’s degree in public health and a master’s degree in public administration, both from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Before coming to Wilmington, she worked in health care consulting with PricewaterhouseCoopers and later in institutional sales and trading with Carolina Capital Markets Inc.

In Wilmington, prior to joining NHRMC, Davis worked in pharmaceutical sales for Pfizer Inc. and physician relations for MedCath Corporation.

Cook leaves behind a strong record. During his tenure, the NHRMC Foundation Gala and the employee campaign both raised record amounts.
