Construction Manager For Hospital Project Honored

By Ken Little, posted Mar 2, 2015
The Rodgers Builders construction team for Dosher Memorial Hospital’s new Inpatient Care Facility was recently honored by N.C. Department of Labor commissioner Cherie Berry for participation in OSHA’s Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP).

The SHARP program recognizes workplaces “for operating an exemplary injury and illness prevention program,” Berry said in a news release.

As project construction manager, Rodgers Builders held a ceremony attended by construction workers and subcontractors who participated in the program. Also on hand were representatives from Dosher, the N.C. Department of Labor and local dignitaries.

Berry presented Rodgers and 12 subcontracting firms with certificates of their achievement, along with the SHARP flag that flies at the project.

Tom Siemers, hospital president and CEO, said the SHARP designation was earned as a result of Rodgers and the participating subcontractors’ meeting eligibility criteria and program requirements set by OSHA.

The first 15 private patient care rooms, nurses station and work areas were just completed and opened for occupancy. The remaining 10 patient rooms of the 25-bed inpatient wing are expected to be completed by late May or early June, hospital officials said.
