Health Systems To Present Next Week On Their NHRMC Proposals

By Vicky Janowski, posted Jun 5, 2020
The three health systems that have proposed buying or leasing New Hanover Regional Medical Center are scheduled to give presentations next week.

The presentations to the Partnership Advisory Group (PAG) will be done virtually and livestreamed so the public can watch on NHCTV.com or on NHCTV cable stations (Channel 13 on Spectrum and Channel 5 on Charter), according to a news release Friday.

PAG members and hospital officials are in discussions with Atrium Health, Duke Health and Novant Health about their responses to a request for proposals that NHRMC and New Hanover County issued earlier this year about the county-owned hospital.

Next week’s presentations are scheduled for 5:30-6:30 p.m. on:

• Tuesday-Duke Health
• Wednesday-Novant Health
• Thursday-Atrium Health

Six health systems initially responded to the RFP about the hospital’s future, and officially none of those proposals have been eliminated yet.

PAG members also are weighing the pros and cons of keeping the hospital’s operations the same as well as not partnering with an outside health system but restructuring its model internally.

A public hearing is scheduled to take place June 22. Officials said in the release that details about the hearing would be released early next week.

The proposal documents are online at nhrmcfuture.org/submitted-proposals.
