James Bryant was recently named administrator of emergency services at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

“I’m totally impressed with the team here,” said Bryant, who comes to NHRMC from the Cleveland Clinic Health System, where he served most recently as associate chief nursing officer – emergency services and clinical practice.

Bryant twice received the Cleveland Clinic Innovation Award, was honored in North Carolina’s Great 100 Nurses in 2006 and was selected runner-up for Best Nurse Leader in 2005 by Advance for Nurses magazine. Bryant holds a doctorate in nursing practice and holds numerous nursing certifications, including Certified Emergency Nurse, Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse and Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse.

Bryant began his career as a staff nurse in North Carolina and progressed to director of emergency, outpatient and transport services at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center before joining the Cleveland Clinic.
