Coastal Neurology Set To Move, Expand Staff

By J. Elias O'Neal, posted Jul 30, 2012

A Wilmington-based medical firm announced plans to relocate its office and expand its medical practice by the fall.

Dr. Susan Torres, owner and lead neurologist of Coastal Neurology, confirmed that her office will soon be moving into 4,100 square feet of office space at 1514 Doctors Circle in the heart of the medical district near New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington after closing on the space July 24 for an undisclosed amount.

The firm currently occupies 1,700 square feet at 1117 Medical Center Drive.

Hill Rogers, principal broker with Wilmington-based Cameron Management Inc., represented the seller – Panacea Realty – during the transaction, while Wilmington-based City of Oaks Realtor Marketing Group represented Torres.

Hill said the newly purchased property was excess medical office space in Panacea’s portfolio that was formerly used by Hanover Medical Specialist’s billing department.

Torres said more than doubling her firm’s office space will help address its growing patient load and allow the practice to add additional employees after the move – which is slated for October.

“We need more space because we’ve gotten so busy,” Torres said. “We have so many new patients coming in, and staff has been hitting elbows with each other.”

Coastal Neurology specializes in neuropathy, multiple sclerosis disorders and movement disorders.

Torres said her firm now employees five office employees and two physicians. She said once the firm relocates, she looking to add a nurse practitioner, two additional office staff and a possible third neurologist.

“We are hoping to be able to meet the demand of our neurology consults in the community,” Torres said. “Moving our practice to this new space will give us the opportunity to do that.”
