New Hanover Regional Medical Center was recently recognized with two awards from the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology.
The hospital received The American College of Cardiology Foundation’s NCDR Action Registry-GWTG Gold Performance Achievement Award.
NHRMC is one of only 167 hospitals in the U.S. to be given the recognition, hospital spokeswoman Erin Balzotti said.
She said NHRMC was considered on nine quality measures, including whether eligible patients were given reperfusion therapy, whether patients were given aspirin on arrival and whether patients who smoke were given smoking cessation counseling on discharge.
New Hanover Regional Medical Center was also awarded the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline Bronze Quality Achievement Award for its commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients.
David Parks, vice president of cardiac services at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, said the awards “recognize the impressive work done by our physicians and staff to continually improve the care we provide our patients. We also appreciate the work of our partners in the region, who have worked with us on standard protocols to ensure every patient gets the care they need when they need it.”
