Joseph Rouse has been named the wellness center coordinator for the Davis Community’s new Wellness and Rehabilitation Pavilion scheduled to open in September.
Rouse is a North Carolina native and a University of North Carolina Wilmington graduate, with a degree in physical education and health, and a concentration in exercise science.
Rouse previously served as a therapy technician, charged with coordinating inpatient and outpatient therapies. He facilitated community wellness programs while simultaneously operating a personal training fitness center for seniors. He is currently finalizing his certification as a clinical exercise specialist.
“I am very passionate about helping people achieve their personal wellness goals and disproving many of the common myths that surround physical fitness of the senior population,” Rouse said in a prepared statement.
“I feel that with accepting this job at the Joseph and Elsa Flower Davies Wellness Center, I have an opportunity to assist in permanently changing people’s lives for the better,” Rouse said.
Davis Community spokeswoman Julie Rehder said the new Wellness and Rehabilitation Pavilion will include an “innovative” Seniors Pursuing Active Living Program. She said Rouse will spearhead the SPA program and corresponding wellness activities for seniors, including aqua therapy, personalized exercise routines and wellness classes.
The Davis Community is located at 1011 Porters Neck Road. It provides health, wellness and rehabilitation services to aging adults “in a loving continuum of care environment in which each resident lives at an optimum level of function and dignity,” Rehder said.
